In risposta a “Il senso di una musica” di Walter Branchi
Abstract
This text reflects on Walter Branchi’s musical thought through the relationship between sound, listening, and the meaning of sonic experience. Drawing on Frege’s distinction between sense and reference, music is interpreted not merely as the organization of acoustic material, but as a relational field in which environment, space, time, and listener participate in the construction of meaning. The essay highlights the ontological dimension of Branchi’s research, where sound is no longer understood as an autonomous object, but as a manifestation of continuity between human beings, nature, and the cosmos. Within this perspective, the recovery of the Quadrivium, the harmonic law, and a cosmological conception of music becomes both a critique of the fragmentation of contemporary music and a search for shared foundations of aesthetic experience.
