Abstract

This text reflects on the research trajectory developed within Musica/Complessità, challenging the traditional categories of space, instrument, and musical communication. Moving beyond complexity as a descriptive model, it outlines a perspective in which complexity becomes an operative environment: sound is no longer an object but a relational event, and composition is no longer construction but a condition of possibility. Within this framework, space emerges as a dynamic function of perception, the instrument becomes a configuration of relationships, and technology assumes the role of a relational partner in emergent processes. The distinction between performer, instrument, and environment progressively dissolves, giving rise to open, non-linear, and non-deterministic systems. This leads to a radical redefinition of listening as a distributed and participatory experience, grounded in liminal fields and multiple temporalities. The text ultimately suggests that what emerges from these practices may exceed the very notion of “music,” configuring itself as a form of sensitive relation among complex systems.
